The mission of FIRE is to empower central sterile personnel through the gift of unsurpassed education. Education that will encourage the highest level of integrity in the actions of this chapter and all affiliated. We will be examples of what hard work, dedication and determination can bring to this career.

Meet The Team

Brian M. Reynolds

Board Member of FIRE

Brian M. Reynolds is the current Assistant Chief of the Sterile Processing Service with the VA system. He has been in the Sterile Processing profession since 1991 serving in multiple health-related capacities. These roles include, but are not limited to:  Sterile Processing Technician, CPD Manager and Materials Management.  These roles have been fulfilled in Florida and Alabama.  Each role has been an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge in the Sterile Processing profession. This knowledge and understanding lead Brian to collaborate with a group of likeminded people to begin an IAHCSMM chapter for the state of Florida, which wound up serving the state of Alabama during his period of service there.  Brian is a current board member of FIRE (Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators); formally known as CFACSP (Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel) since its recharter in 2011.   He also is the current President of IAHCSM 2020-2021, and an AAMI voting board member on ST79. 
 
After 21 years in the Private section he began his career with the VA Brian is very passionate about the education of Sterile Processing Professionals and the growth and profession of what we do. He strives to be a part of the evolution of Sterile Processing and mentoring those to come after him to be great at what we do and to lead us to the beyond.

James Jones Sr.

Board Member of FIRE

James Jones Sr. has 32 years of experience in numerous roles throughout his career in sterile processing, from a sterile processing tech, to a Materials Coordinator, Supervisor of Sterile Processing to Manager of Sterile Processing and finally Director of Sterile Processing. James has also traveled throughout the country while working in the Sterile Processing field and has had the pleasure of working alongside many of today’s industry leaders in the field of Sterile Processing. James currently serves as VP of IAHCSMM Florida Chapter: Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators (F.I.R.E) formally CFACSP.  (Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel). With so much already accomplished James feels he still have more to do, and it starts with, training and educating the next wave of Sterile Processing Professionals.

Arlene Bush

Board Member of FIRE

Arlene Bush is a System Education and Quality Auditing of Sterile Processing at AdventHealth  Central Florida Region. She began her career in sterile processing 1998 and she has worked for a number of healthcare systems around the world.  Arlene is a Subject Matter Expert with IAHCSMM, and she currently maintains a Golden Crown in certifications. Arlene has severed as the chair for the Nomination Committee for IAHCSMM in 2019 - 2020. Miss Bush is well known for her role as the Communication Director for the local IAHCSMM chapter of FIRE (Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators) formally Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel (CFACSP).  She has also published several articles which help shed light on how important education is in our ever change industry. And is now adventuring into speaking at different venues about the importance of Education and the Process of what is needed to be successful in Sterile Processing.

Samuel T. Brown

Board Member of FIRE

Samuel T. Brown has been in the Sterile Processing profession since 1991 and has a wealth of experience in Sterile Processing. Brown Started his career off a US Army Veteran and once he transitioned to the civilian sector, he acquired a position within the VA.  He’s worked in many diverse roles as a technician, Lead Tech, Supervisor, Assistant Chief and now Service Chief at the VA Medical Center. These roles have assisted him in developing First-hand knowledge and experience in all aspect of Sterile Processing gaining the following certifications (CRMST, CIS, CER, CHL, CRCST). Additionally, in 2017 Sam became a board member of IAHCSMM Central Florida Chapter CFACSP (Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel) currently known as FIRE (Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators) to enhance education within the Sterile Processing Field.

Freddy O. Gonzalez

Board Member of FIRE

Freddy O. Gonzalez has been in sterile Processing since 2002. He’s worked in many diverse roles as a technician, Coordinator, Supervisor and now an SPD Educator in a Trauma One Health Care Facility. Having the ability to work in these roles have assisted him in developing First-hand knowledge and experience in all aspect of Sterile Processing. Freddy enjoys the teaching and training aspects of Sterile Processing, additionally, in 2017 Freddy became a board member of IAHCSMM Central Florida Chapter CFACSP (Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel) currently known as FIRE (Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators) to gain further education to promote within the Sterile Processing Field.

Jason A. Williams

Board Member of FIRE

Jason A. Williams is from Tuscaloosa, Al.  ROLL TIDE!!! He has been in Sterile Processing since 2012. He currently resides in Birmingham, Al, where he is the Manager of Sterile Processing Department at St Vincent’s Hospital! Jason started at UAB Medical Center. He then moved on to another facility in which he went from a Scope tech to the lead tech. He then progressed unto the Management role that he currently in. He has continued to expand his knowledge in the last few years and being a leader within the Sterile Processing arena. He is passionate about teaching and developing others, helping them to reach and maintain their goals. Jason has been a board member of (FIRE) Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educators formally (CFACSP) Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel since 2017.

Reggie Bailey

Board Member of FIRE

Reggie Bailey began his career in Sterile Processing, in 1989 at Riddle Memorial Hospital; in Media, Pennsylvania.  His travels led him back to Florida in 1990, where he was employed at the, then Florida Hospital South; now, known as AdventHealth Orlando.  Two years later, in 1992, he again moved to Pennsylvania, where he was warmly welcomed back to Riddle Memorial hospital, where he would work for the next ten years.  During this time, he also worked part-time at Crozer Chester Medical Center for three years as a technician.
In August of 2002, he again relocated home, to Florida where he was welcomed back to Florida Hospital South.  After working there for a little over two years, he transferred to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, where he continued gaining experience for three years.  Then, in 2007, he went to work for Orlando Regional Hospital.  In 2010, after three years of service as a technician; his passion, capability, and potential were rewarded with a leadership position as a coordinator. His duties covered, Lucerne Hospital and ORMC’s ACC’s Sterile Processing Departments.  In 2013, he received another promotion as ACC’s Supervisor, after the closing of Lucerne Hospital.  He then transferred to Winnie Palmer Hospital where he again served a dual role supervising and educating his staff at Winnie and ACC.
In early 2020, Reggie resigned from Winnie Palmer to pursue his passion, to help others and begin his own business.  Though his main focus is building his business; and helping individuals regain better positions in society, he is still dedicated to the field of sterile processing.  He still works on a per diem basis at AdventHealth Apopka and serves as a board member for IAHCSMM’s Florida chapter (FIRE) Florida Intercoastal Reprocessing Educator formally none as (CFACSP) Central Florida Association of Central Service Personnel since 2018.
